Materials & Care

To slow down the ageing of your jewelry, it's best to remove it while you're cleaning, swimming or doing any other vigorous exercise.

Below you'll find care tips for each material you've chosen. Keep them in mind to optimize the life of your jewelry.

Sterling silver 925

Sterling silver oxidizes and tarnishes to varying degrees when exposed to water, air, sweat, chlorine or other chemicals for prolonged periods. We strongly recommend that you keep your jewelry dry and store it in its case when not in use. If it becomes tarnished, a silver cleaning cloth or brushing with an extra-soft toothbrush and a mixture of water and dishwashing liquid will help.

If your silver piece needs a thorough cleaning, we will be delighted to provide this service free of charge, excluding shipping costs. We can also offer you a rhodium plating service, depending on the product. Please contact us by email at contact@lokidolor.com for a quotation.

Gold-plated silver

Gold plating on sterling silver is traditionally coated with 5 microns of 18-carat gold. This coating will eventually wear off over time, however, its longevity is considerably improved by taking the right precautions. We strongly recommend storing your gold plated jewelry wrapped in acid-free tissue paper in its case when not in use. Avoid prolonged exposure to sweat, water and aggressive chemicals. If your gold plating has worn over time, we would be delighted to provide you with a gold plating service, depending on the product. Please contact us by e-mail at contact@lokidolor.com for a quotation.

Precious stones

Precious stones are fragile materials, and therefore very sensitive to use. They are highly susceptible to being chipped by violent contact or when dropped on hard surfaces. To keep your gems sparkling at home, try a spray of glass cleaner and brush gently with warm water and an extra-soft toothbrush. For a more in-depth cleaning, we'd be delighted to provide this service free of charge, excluding postage.

Resin

Resin is a fragile material, and therefore very sensitive to use. To avoid the risk of breakage or cracking, please avoid pressure, friction, impact and exposure to high temperatures. To preserve the transparency of your resin pieces and avoid yellowing or discoloration over time, keep your resin jewelry in its case away from direct sunlight when not in use.
